Wheels and axles for 2-wheel waste bins, 120 to 360 litres

Replacement wheels for 2-wheel waste bins (wheelie bins) of 120 to 360 litres: Ø200 x 50 mm grey rubber tyre on a PP centre, 22 mm bore with click-fit hub, 160 kg per wheel. Wheel alone or with matching Ø22 mm axle.

Which wheel fits a 2-wheel waste bin?

Nearly every 120, 240 and 360 litre bin from the large European bin makers runs on two Ø200 mm wheels on a Ø22 mm steel axle, so one wheel covers most replacements. Check three figures on the old wheel before ordering: the outside diameter (200 mm), the bore (22 mm) and the type of hub. Some 360 litre bins and older models use Ø250 or Ø300 mm wheels; for those, send us the diameter and bore and we check whether we can supply them.

Click-fit hub, no cap or pin

Our Ø200 wheel has a click-fit hub. The hub carries an integrated retaining clip that snaps into the groove at the end of the axle when the wheel is pushed on by hand. No hub cap, spring pin or circlip is needed and nothing can fall off on the collection round. If your bins have a different retention system, send a photo of the axle end and we match the hub.

Grey rubber tyre on a polypropylene centre

The tyre is grey rubber, moulded onto a polypropylene centre. Rubber rolls quieter on paving than a solid plastic wheel and does not shatter when the bin is dropped off a kerb in winter. The polypropylene centre does not corrode and keeps its 22 mm bore within tolerance over the life of the bin. Grey leaves fewer marks on light floors than black, which matters for bins kept in corridors, kitchens and underground garages.

What EN 840-1 and EN 840-5 require of the wheels

EN 840-1 covers 2-wheel containers up to 400 litres and requires each wheel to withstand a static load of 100 kg. EN 840-5 tests the loaded container at 0.4 kg per litre: a 240 litre bin is tested with 96 kg of load in it plus the weight of the bin, rolled, dropped off a kerb and tipped, and it has to roll normally afterwards. Our wheel is rated at 160 kg per wheel, so the pair carries 320 kg, well above what a 360 litre bin reaches at its rated load. Test references for the bin model you build are available on request.

Axles

Axles are Ø22 mm steel, zinc plated, with the retention groove at both ends. The length depends on the bin model (the axle sits in the moulded channel at the bottom of the bin body), so send us the length of the old axle or the bin make and capacity and we supply the matching axle, or the wheel and axle as a set.
